This week’s hike was on the Yonah Preserve (Section 200) Trail in White County, GA.

TRAIL INFO. – The trails here are primarily for hikers and mountain bikers. There are lots of trail options in this beautiful woodland tract of 1,000 acres with a beautiful lake and excellent trails. The trails are well marked and maintained with paved trailhead parking, restrooms and covered picnic facilities. The terrain is very gentle with some rolling hills but nothing strenuous.

Jim Driggers reported for this hike, “Angela led a hike at Yonah Preserve Trails today. 7 of us did the 200 loop and we started at 9:30. During our hike we ran into Rich, Jane and Squirt hiking from the opposite direction and they started at 8:30. There were lots of mushrooms and only a few bikers.”

Distance hiked – Approx. 3.4 miles, easy.

Directions: Take Hwy 129 N out of Cleveland for about 2.5 mi and turn right on Albert Reid Rd. and continue 2.3 miles to Yonah Preserve on the right.

A nice day for a hike! Partly cloudy, moderately humid, light winds and temperatures ranging from 76 to 82 degrees F.
