TRAIL INFO. – Our hike today on two short trails. The Raven Cliff Falls Trail and the Dukes Creek Falls Trail, Both north of Helen, GA. The Raven Cliff Falls Trail is 2.5 miles one way. The Dukes Creek Falls Trail is 1.1 miles one way. (total mileage for both trails out and back 7.2 miles) Directions: Take GA 75 north from Helen for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto GA 356(75 Alternate) and travel 2.3 miles to the Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway. Turn right and travel 2.8 miles to the trailhead and parking area. . Another beautiful hiking day! Partly Cloudy skies with temps. ranging from the upper 60’s to the low 80’s F. Total hike 7.2 miles. We rated the trail difficulty – moderately easy on mostly good footing. There were a couple of fresh blow-downs across the Raven Cliffs Trail. FLORA IN BLOOM: Rudbeckia, Tall Bluets, Mountain Hydrangea, Rosebay Rhododendron, Sourwood Trees, Euonymus, St. Andrew’s Cross, Woodland Sunflower, Flowering Spurge. FAUNA: Red-Eyed Vireo, Carolina Wren, Veery, Tufted Titmouse, Acadian Fly-catcher. |
