Appalachian Trail – Neels Gap to Wolf Laurel Top, GA

HIKERS – Phil Brownrigg, Jack Jacobi, Steve Jordan, Dan Miller, Leigh Ann Miller, Wayne Miller, Dan Ross, Doug Russell, Bob Presley, Tony Presley, Geri Whitaker, and David Whitaker .

TRAIL INFO. – Today’s Hike began at the Byron Herbert Reese Park one half mile north of Neels Gap. We hiked to Wolf Laurel Top for lunch and then made the return trip. This is a very nice mountain hike.

Total hike today 8 miles.

Another beautiful hiking day! Partly cloudy to cloudy, temp. in the low to mid 70’s F.

Flora in Bloom: Spotted Jewel Weed, Pale Jewel Weed, Southern Hare Bell, Tall Bellflower, White Wood Aster, White Snakeroot, Woodland Sunflower, Tall Lobelia, Tall Goldenrod, St. John’s Wort, Starry Campion, Alum Root, Joe Pye Weed, Heal All, Yellow Wood Sorrell, Columbine, Flowering Spurge, Micheaux’s Saxifrage, Black-Eyed Susan, Asters, Phlox, Turk’s Cap Lily.

FAUNA: American Crow, Pileated Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Cardinal, Ruffed Grouse, White-Breasted Nuthatch, Tufted Titmouse, Veery, Towhee, Raven.
