TRAIL INFO. – Today’s hike was on the Coosa Backcountry Trail. The hike began at the intersection of Hwy. 180 and F.S. road 107 north of Vogel State Park, GA. Total hike today 8 miles. Directions: From Vogel State Park which is about 10 miles south of Blairsville, take Hwy 180 about a mile up to the intersection with F.S. Road 107. Our hike started here. Another beautiful hiking day! Cloudy with fog early and Temps in the low 60’s to low 70’s F. FLORA IN BLOOM: Asters, Mountain Gentian, Goldenrod, White Wood Aster, White Snakeroot, Tall Lobelia, Lady’s Thumb, Horse Balm. FAUNA: Black Bear, White-tailed Deer. Birds Identified- Pileated Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Junco, Blue Jay, American Crow. |
