This week’s hike was on the James Edmonds Trail which is located in Black Rock Mountain State Park north of Clayton, GA.

HIKERS – Melissa Anderson, John Bellamy, Phil Brownrigg, Jack Jacobi, Wayne Miller, Bruce O’Connor, Jeanne O’Connor, Bob Presley, Donna Presley, Tony Presley, David Tate, and Bob Thompson .

TRAIL INFO. – The James Edmonds trail is listed as 7.2 miles and is considered very strenuous due to lots of elevation change. It is a partial loop trail with an east and west fork. It leads to a very nice rock-face over-look called Look-off Mountain. A beautiful hike featuring lots of mountain streams and mountain views.

Directions: Located on Black Rock Mountain Parkway, 3 miles north of Clayton, GA off U.S. Hwy. 441. Look for brown directional signs in Mountain City.

Total hiking distance today, 7.2 miles but if you figure in the official “hill factor”, it felt like 10.2 miles.

Another great day for a hike! Sunny with temperatures ranging from the low 40’s to the mid 50’s F.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Carolina Chickadee, Crow, White-breasted Nuthatch, Pine Warbler, Titmouse, Cardinal, Pileated Woodpecker, and Black Vulture.
