Today’s hike was on the Bartram Trail in Rabun County, GA from Warwoman Dell to Pinnacle Knob and back.
HIKERS – Karen Brown, Phil Brownrigg, Bill Hunt, Jack Jacobi, Dick Metzgar, Wanda Miller, Wayne Miller, Bob Presley, Donna Presley, Tony Presley, Vic Robson, Dan Ross, David Whitaker, Geri Whitaker. TRAIL INFO. – A beautiful portion of the Bartram Trail that offers two nice waterfalls, a beautiful forest of Oak, Hickory, Fraser Magnolia, White Pine, Eastern Hemlock, Sourwood, and Black Locust, among others. The trail also offers a side excursion onto the Pinnacle Knob trail up to a great rock face overlooking the mountains north of Clayton, GA. Directions: Take Highway 884 East (Warwoman Road) from Clayton, GA for 5 miles or so and look for the Warwoman Dell sign on the right and turn right and park in the first parking area. Walk a short distance up the road and you will see the trail leading to the right. Follow the yellow trail markers. Another great day for a hike! Partly cloudy, and breezy with temperatures ranging from the low 50’s to upper 60’s. Hiking distance – 7.8 miles Difficulty – moderate due to elevation change.
