Today’s hike was on the Bartram Trail in Rabun County, GA from Bob Gap to Sandy Ford and Dick’s Creek Falls.
HIKERS – Karen Brown, Phil Brownrigg, Chuck Crisp, Dan Euliss, Pam Euliss, Bill Hunt, Linda Johnson, Carole Raguckas, Joe Raguckas, Vic Robson, Doug Russell, Pom Sinnock, Faye Sisson, Dave Standard, Bob Thompson, Carole Wintle. TRAIL INFO. – This is a very nice stretch of the Bartram Trail. It features nice hiking through a beautiful hardwood forest with very nice opportunities to view and explore the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River. Starting at Bob Gap to Sandy Ford Road and additional side hike to Dick’s Creek Falls. The trail is very well maintained with recent trail maintenance work being done. Directions: Take Warwoman Road 5.9 miles from Clayton and turn right on Sandy Ford Road. Go 1.2 miles and turn left on Pool Creek Road. Drive 0.9 miles to Bob Gap. Another great day for a hike! Cloudy to partly cloudy with a brief shower. Temperatures ranging from the low 50’s to 74 F. Hiking distance – 8.2 miles Difficulty – Moderately easy with mostly gentle hills. WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: none BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Crow, Red Shoulder Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Wild Turkey, and Ruby Crowned Kinglet. |
