Today’s hike was on the Stone Place Trail in Tallulah Gorge State Park, GA.

TRAIL INFO. – The Stoneplace Trail is a nice walk through the woods from The Interpretive Center at Tallulah Gorge State Park to the Stone Place boat ramp on Tugalo Lake. The trail was developed on some old Georgia Power service roads. It is in excellent condition and is very well marked. Directions: Tallulah Gorge State Park is located in the town of Tallulah Falls, GA. From Highway 441, turn onto Jane Hurt Yarn Road and follow the signs to the Interpretive Center. $4 per car parking fee or Georgia Parks Pass. The trail starts from the upper end of the parking lot. Permit required (free – sign in at the Interpretive Center) Another great day for a hike! Cloudy to partly cloudy with a few sprinkles. Temperatures ranging from the low 40’s to the mid 50’s Hiking distance – 10 miles Difficulty – Moderately easy with mostly gentle hills. WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: none BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Pileated Woodpecker, Tufted Titmouse, Black-capped Chickadee, Dark-eyed Junco. |
