TRAIL INFORMATION – This portion of the Chattooga River Trail is one of our favorites. It features lots of lush environment for wildflowers, lots of creeks, two beautiful waterfalls and the Federally designated “Wild and Scenic” Chattooga River. The terrain is gently rolling with no extreme hills and a nice long stretch of the trail is along the river bank. We rate the difficulty of the hike moderately easy. Directions: The trailhead is on Highway 28 between Walhalla, SC and Highlands, NC. The parking lot is on the SC side of the 28 bridge. This is the border of GA / SC. Another great day for a hike! Sunny and warm with temperatures ranging from 58-84 degrees F. Hiking distance – 9 miles.
