Stoneplace Trail – Tallulah Gorge State Park – GA

Today, we hiked on the Stoneplace Trail at Tallulah Gorge State Park. Including the extra trail to Inspiration Point, the hike was 10+ miles.

TRAIL INFO. – The Stoneplace Trail Starts at the parking lot for the Interpretive Center at Tallulah Gorge State Park. The trail is 5 miles one way as it leads to the Stoneplace boat ramp on Tugalo Lake. The trail has moderate hills along with some flat areas. There is a new overlook added this year at Inspiration Point (a one half mile or so extra hike). Inspiration Point is the highest view point and it is breathtaking as you look deep into the gorge with views of Oceana and Bridal Veil Falls!

Directions: Travel to Tallulah Falls GA on Highway 441 about 12 miles south of Clayton, GA. Turn at the traffic light onto Jane Hurt Yarn Rd. to the Interpretive Center.

Another great day for a hike! Fair, breezy and very cold with temperatures ranging from 20 to the mid 30’s F.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: White-breasted Nuthatch, Chickadee, Dark-eyed Junco, Downy Woodpecker, Turkey Vulture and Pine Warbler
