Tallulah Gorge Trails – Tallulah Gorge State Park, GA

Today, we hiked on the trails in Tallulah Gorge State Park. approx. 5+ mi.

TRAIL INFO. – Our hike today included the Shortline Trail, the South Rim Trail, Gorge Stairs across the suspension bridge up to the North Rim Trail and back down to the Shorline Trail parking lot. Spactacular views including the Tallulah River, The Terrora Power plant and Tallulah Falls Lake and Dam, along with the magnificent Tallulah Gorge. Total 5+ mi.

Directions: Coming from the south into Tallulah Falls, GA, cross the Highway 441 bridge at the gorge and lake and turn left at the traffic light across from the Jane Hurt Yarn Rd. Take the next right and continue a short distance and you will see the old railroad trestle columns in the lake. Just past the columns, turn right to the trailhead.

Another great day for a hike! Fair and cool. Temperatures ranged from the low 30’s to upper 40’s.

FLOWERS IN BLOOM: none

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Downy Woodpecker, Cedar Waxwing, Robin, American Crow, Cardinal, Carolina Wren, Pileated Woodpecker, Bufflehead duck, Mallard duck, and Turkey Vulture.
