Panther Creek Trail – Panther Creek Falls

Today’s hike was on the Panther Creek Trail from Panther Creek Park on old Highway 441 to lower Panther Creek Falls and back. HIKERS – Greta Driggers, Jim Driggers, Dave Hinson, Jack Jacobi, Jeanne O’Connor, Vic Robson and Lynne Saporito.

TRAIL INFO. – The Panther Creek Trail is beautiful hike down to Panther Creek Falls. The trail follows closely along Panther Creek as you make your way down to Panther Creek Falls, located at the 3.6 mile mark. Careful footing is necessary as you walk along several rock cliffs.

Directions: Panther Creek Park is about 3 miles south of Tallulah Falls, GA. Take Highway 441 northward toward Tallulah Falls, GA. After passing Hollywood (traffic light) continue on 441 for a mile or more and turn left at any intersection then turn right onto old Historic Hwy 441 and continue until you see the sign for Panther Creek Park turn left into the park.

Another great day for a hike! Cloudy, with temperatures in the 60’s all day. Hiking distance – 7.2 miles.

FLOWERS IN BLOOM: Joe-pye-weed, Ironweed, Tall Goldenrod, Tickseed Sunflower, Great Blue Lobelia, Southern Harebell, Wild Goldenglow, False Foxglove, Spiderwort, White Wood Aster, New England Aster, Flowering Spurge and Starry Campion.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED:Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Cardinal, Blue Jay and Pileated Woodpecker.

Other Fauna: Fence Lizard.
