Today, we hiked on the Bartram Trail in Rabun County, GA from Bob Gap to Dicks Creek Falls and back. Round trip distance – 8.2 miles.
HIKERS: Phil Brownrigg, Pam Euliss, Dave Hinson, Bill Hunt, Dick Metzgar, Jeanne O’Connor, Vic Robson, Dan Ross and Pom Sinnock. TRAIL INFO. – This portion of the Bartram Trail is very nice with mountain views in winter, great views of the Chattooga River and Dicks Creek Falls, beautiful mixed forest, all on a very well marked and maintained trail. We saw evidence of recent trail maintenance. The terrain is rolling and we consider it to be moderately difficult. Directions: Take Warwoman Road 5.9 miles from Clayton and turn right on Sandy Ford Road. Cross the bridge turn left toward Dicks Creek then shortly turn right on Poole Creek Rd then 0.9 miles to Bob Gap. Another great day for a hike! Cloudy and mild with occasional light misty drizzle with temperatures ranging from the upper 50’a to mid 60’s degrees F. WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: Mountain Gentian and Curtis’ Milkwort. BIRDS IDENTIFIED: 15 Wild Turkeys, Blue Jay, White-breasted Nuthatch and Pileated Woodpecker. |
