Today’s hike was on the trails at Victoria Bryant State Park near Royston, GA.
HIKERS – Phil Brownrigg, Dave Hinson, Bill Hunt, Dick Metzgar, Dave Norton, Mary Lu Norton, Bruce O’Connor, Jeanne O’Connor, Don Preece, Donna Presley, Tony Presley, Vic Robson and Dan Ross. TRAIL INFO. – Victoria Bryant State Park has a very nice network of hiking trails. The Perimeter Trail Loop, The Broad River Loop, Victoria’s Path Nature Trail along with connector and access trails. All together around 10 miles to choose from. The trails are well maintained and feature rolling terrain and nice river and woodland views. Distance hiked – approximately 6 miles – difficulty – Easy to moderate. Directions: Victoria Bryant State Park is located between Lavonia and Royston on Highway 327. There is a $5 per car parking fee or a Georgia State Parks Pass. Another great day for a hike! Sunny and cold with a breeze. Temperatures ranged from 29 to 40 degrees F. FLOWERS IN BLOOM: none BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Turkey Vulture, American Crow, Blue Jay, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Robin, Bluebird, Cardinal, Tufted Titmouse, Pine Warbler, Chipping Sparrow, Mallard Duck. Other Fauna: Gray Squirrels. |
