Bartram Trail Hike – Warwoman Dell to Pinnacle Knob – Rabun Co., GA

Today’s hike was on the Bartram Trail in Rabun Co. GA from Warwoman Dell to Pinnacle Knob.

HIKERS – Geri Barrios, Wayne Barrios, John Bellamy, Pam Euliss, Greta Driggers, David Hinson, Bob Magee, Dick Metzgar, Don Preece and Tony Presley.

TRAIL INFORMATION – A beautiful section of the Bartram Trail featuring two nice waterfalls and a spectacular mountain vista at Pinnacle Knob. The trail is well maintained and has very significant elevation changes to give you a very good workout.

We rate the hike moderately strenuous to very strenuous if you climb the trail up to the summit of Pinnacle.

Directions: Take Highway 884 East (Warwoman Road) from Clayton, GA for 5 miles or so and look for the Warwoman Dell sign on the right and turn right and park in the first parking area. Walk a short distance up the road and you will see the trail leading to the right. Follow the yellow trail markers.

Another great day for a hike! Sunny to partly cloudy and warm with temperatures ranging from 67 to 80 degrees F. Hiking distance – 8.5 miles.

WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM:
Mountain Laurel, Large-flowered Trillium, Catesby’s Trillium, Vasey’s Trillium, Bowman’s Root, Blackberry, Foam Flower, Tall Bluet, Flowering Spurge, Rattlesnake Weed, Robin’s Plantain, Golden Alexanders, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Wood Geranium, Tulip Poplar, Meadow Rue, Smooth Meadow Parsnips.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Black-throated Green Warbler, Turkey Vulture, White-breasted Nuthatch, Robin, Carolina Chickadee, Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Tufted Titmouse, Red Eyed Vireo, Hooded Warbler, Black & White Warbler, Chipping Sparrow, Ovenbird, Blue Jay, Pileated Woodpecker, Black Throated Blue Warbler, American Crow.
