TRAIL INFO. – This portion of the Bartram Trail is accessed from Courthouse Gap Rd. using a connector trail up to Courthouse Gap. From here the trail travels up and continues to Windy Gap on rolling terrain mostly uphill. Nice mountain views are abundant along the trail during the winter months. Trail difficulty is mostly strenuous due to lots of elevation gain on the way to Windy Gap. TODAY’S HIKERS: Geri Barrios, Wayne Barrios, John Bellamy, June Bellamy, Karen Brown, Jan Burgess, Joe Collins, Pam Euliss, Bob Magee, Dick Metzgar, Trushna Nadig, Jeanne O’Connor, Tony Presley, Vic Robson, Carole Wintle. Total hiking distance today – 8.5 miles with a large gain in elevation. Difficulty rating – Strenuous. DIRECTIONS: Take Warwoman road out of Clayton for .8 miles, and you’ll see a sign for Pinnacle Camp. Take a left turn off Warwoman Road onto Pinnacle Dr. Follow that road all the way, 1.1 miles, passing the camp, to Courthouse Gap Road. Take a right, and go .2 miles until you see a gravel road, with parking areas beneath power lines. Park there, and walk up that road about a tenth of a mile to the access trail on the left. Another great day for a hike! Mostly fair, windy and cold with temperatures ranging in the low 30’s all day. WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: None BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Dark-eyed Junco, Towhee, Cardinal and Tufted Titmouse.
