Today’s hike was on the trails at the “flooded” Tallulah Gorge, GA. HIKERS – Mike Bell, Joe Collins, Pam Euliss, Bill Hunt, Martha Hunt, Kuber Nadig, Radhika Nadig, Trushna Nadig, Jeanne O’Connor, . TRAIL INFORMATION – Today was a different adventure for our hikers. There was major flooding at Tallulah Gorge State Park. Our group saw incredibly high water levels in the lake with lots of floating debris and the Tallulah River crashing with extreme force through the gorge. Part of the Shortline trail was flooded with the Tallulah River out of its banks. The hike was only 3.5 miles today due to the conditions. Directions: Tallulah Gorge State Park is about 10 miles south of Clayton, GA on Highway 441. For the Shortline Trail, turn to the right at the traffic light in Tallulah Falls (if coming from the north) then turn right and park at the gravel parking lot at the historic Tallulah Falls Jail on the right just before the bridge. Walk across the bridge and turn right up the short hill to the start of the Shortline Trail. Another great day for a hike! Partly cloudy with temperatures in the low 60’s F. Scroll down for photos
