The Bartram Trail – Rabun Co. GA – Warwoman Dell to Rainey Mt., Big Rock and back to Becky Branch Falls

Today’s hike was on the Bartram Trail in Georgia from Warwoman Dell to Rainey Mt. Big Rock and back to Warwoman and up to Becky Branch Falls.

HIKERS: Jenny Bell, Mike Bell, John Bellamy, June Bellamy, Phil Brownrigg, Ray Clark, Greta Driggers, Jim Driggers, Pam Euliss, Angela Evans, Gary King, Ray Lovett, Jo Lusher, Dick Metzgar, Jeanne O’Connor, Tony Presley and Vic Robson .

TRAIL INFO. – A very nice portion of the well-maintained Bartram Trail starting at Warwoman Dell along with a challenging side trail down to Big Rock which overlooks Camp Rainey Mountain and great mountain views. The portion from Warwoman Dell up to Becky Branch Falls is .3 mi. uphill. Total hiking distance today – 4.6 miles.

DIRECTIONS: Take Highway 884 East from Clayton, GA for 5 miles or so on Warwoman Road and look for the Warwoman Dell sign on the right and turn right and drive to the end of the dirt road and park. Take the trail to the left up the mountain following the yellow blazes.

Another great day for a hike! mostly fair and cool with temperatures ranging from 46 to 60 degrees F.

WILDFLOWERS IN BLOOM: White Snakeroot, Asters, Goldenrod, Cardinal Flower .

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Nuthatch, Crow, Blue Jay, Chickadee, Cardinal .

Next, we hike up to Becky Branch Falls.

The water level at the falls was very low due to prolonged drought.
