The Unicoi-Helen Trail, GA from Helen City Park to Unicoi Lodge.

Today’s hike was at Unicoi State Park near Helen, GA. Starting at City Park in Helen hiking to the Lodge at Unicoi State Park.

TRAIL INFORMATION – The trails at Unicoi are in excellent condition with good signage along the way. Much of the trail follows along beautiful Smith Creek with several nice footbridges along the trail. The difficulty rating is moderate with some hills but not extreme. Total hike today 6.9 miles.

Directions: Just north of downtown Helen, GA City Park is on the right. Instead of starting at City Park, you can also choose to start at the Lodge at Unicoi State Park. Another great day for a hike! Partly Cloudy and cool with temperatures ranging in the low to mid 60’s F.

WILDFLOWERS: Blue Lobelia, Green-headed Coneflower, Goldenrod, White and Blue Asters, White Snakeroot, Spotted Jewelweed.

BIRDS IDENTIFIED: Pilieated Woodpecker, Mallard Duck, White-breasted Nuthatch, Blue Jay.

OTHER FAUNA: White-tailed Deer, Grey Squirrel
