Name: AT - Dick's Creek Gap to Blue Ridge Gap
Distance: 6.7
Difficulty: Moderate
Total Climbing Elevation: 1,893
Type: One Way
Notes: Another one of the great hikes and hiking days we've had during 2022. The weather was perfect with moderate temperatures, mostly sunny and frequent cooling breezes. The trail was in excellent condition, but still required care in one's footing with continual leaf litter hiding the usual rocks and roots of a well-used AT. The recent leaf drop provided lots of "through the trees" views of the mountains, but no spectacular view points. We we able to see Brasstown Bald to the west toward the end of the hike. Only one real standout wildflower spotted today. However, there were interesting items to be seen today along the trail in interesting rock formations and unique trees. This hike is moderately difficult with three main and somewhat lengthy inclines to climb. We did find that Blue Ridge Gap can now be accessed easily via Charlies Creek Road, having been recently graded and packed gravel applied.
