Name: Coosa Backcountry and Bear Hair Gap Trails
Distance: 6.7
Difficulty: Moderate
Total Climbing Elevation: 1,371
Type: Out and Back with Loop
Notes: Another great day for a hike with sunny and warm temperatures, 67 degrees to 77 degrees, but humid conditions that made it seem much hotter. The shady conditions under the high forest cover were appreciated. The trail was in fair condition considering its heavy use. It is a mix of rocky, rooty and occasionally packed smooth, loamy surfaces. While mostly uphill for the first half of the hike, the grade was not terribly steep. We did take the side trail to the Vogel Overlook with limited views of Lake Trahlyta. We only saw a few wildflowers and no wildlife. Overall this is a moderately difficult hike.
