Name: Kimsey Creek Trail
Distance: 6.2
Difficulty: Easy
Total Climbing Elevation: 696
Type: Out & Back
Notes: So-so trail with lots of rocks, roots and water, but this is hiking in the mountains, so it is expected sometimes. Kimsey Creek, however, is really a very pretty and pristine creek and worth the hike. Weather was great with temperatures 46-65 degrees. The trail, especially some of the bridges could use some maintenance or creation. We did not hike the full distance to Deep Gap. I and a couple of others mistakenly decided to take a branch path up a draw that also had blue blazes like the main trail. After ~ 1/4 mile of a somewhat difficult trail and reference to our GPS, we decided we were not on the correct trail and turned around. Some, but not a lot of fall color since most of the leaves had already fallen.
