Name: Raven Cliff Falls Trail near Helen, GA
Distance: 5.8
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Total Climbing Elevation: 604
Type: Out & Back
Notes: Despite severe storms to the north and south of Helen last night, this area was spared much rain and the skies cleared up by hike time. We almost abandoned the hike because the first bridge was out and some of our hikers were reluctant to cross on the log across Dukes Creek. However, Christine and Angela remembered an older access trail above and across Dukes Creek which allowed us to complete the hike. Although quite "rooty" in places, the trail was not that bad and was mostly dry. It is a steady gradual, but not difficult, uphill hike to Raven Cliff Falls. It is well worth the effort since you are hiking along Dodd Creek with the sounds of rushing water and beautiful views of numerous cascades and small to medium falls. A fair number of wildflowers, too, with the highlight being numerous large patches of large Trout Lilies in bloom. This is an easy to moderate difficulty hike. Garmin recorded the total distance as 6.4 miles.
