Trail access above Tate City, GA where the road dead-ends into the trail head parking lot. A strenuous hike which includes a very steep climb up to the top of Standing Indian Mountain from Case Knife Gap. Another beautiful hiking day! Clear, cool morning with some stretches through snow left over from a couple of nights earlier. (10 mile round trip) |
 This is the trail head located just over the state line into N.C. above Tate City, GA. |

 We had lunch with a thru-hiker from New York. (front left) Steve Czompo (trail name “Starbuck”) . Steve is approximately 85 miles into his thru-hike to Maine. |
