Trail access Buckeye Creek near Otto, NC. Another beautiful hiking day! Clear to partly cloudy – temperature ranged from 65-80 degrees F.. (11 mile round trip) Wildflowers viewed – Trillium (Catesbys and Vaseys) , Vetch, Rue Anemone,May-apple, Shooting Stars,Bluets, Yellow Lady’s Slippers, Pink Lady’s Slippers, Bird-foot Violets, Yellow Violets, Bellwort, Serviceberry. Saxifrage – among others. Birds identified – Grouse, Pileated Woodpecker, Junco, Oven Bird, Nuthatch, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Vireo, Black and White Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Scarlet Tanager, Tuffted Titmouse. |
